I am interested in volunteering at The Animal Foundation,
but I was wondering...
Q. What sort of things do volunteers do at The Animal Foundation?
A. Volunteers do a variety of tasks to ensure our shelter runs smoothly. Whether its walking dogs, cuddling cats, helping at a community adoption event, greeting visitors in the lobby– the list is endless! We look forward to your talents!
Q. Is the Volunteer Program the same as court ordered community service?
A. No. People needing to complete court ordered community service can do so by contacting the Community Service Coordinator, at 845-5183.
Q. What are the age requirements to volunteer at The Animal Foundation?
A. Volunteers must be 18 years old to volunteer. 16 and 17 year old volunteers can do so with parental supervision.
Q. How can I get started as a volunteer?
A. The first step is filling out a new Volunteer Interest Survey. This will help us get an idea of who you are and what you are interested in doing as a volunteer. Every new volunteer must attend an informational Orientation session and Shelter Tour before getting started. Additional training specific to duties will also be required.
Q. Where can I obtain the volunteer application? Where can I turn it in?
A. Volunteer Interest Surveys can be obtained in the white Adoption Tent on the Volunteer Sign– In desk. You can also download a printable version on our web site

Completed applications can be scanned and emailed to mmusso@animalfoundation.com, mailed to 655 North Mojave Rd. LV,NV 89101, or submitted in person to the Volunteer Coordinator, or fax to 384-4563

Please RSVP with the Volunteer Coordinator by calling 384-3333 x 114 or by emailing volunteer@animalfoundation.com.
Q. What other training do I need to attend to be “official”?
A. All volunteers must complete training related to their volunteer positions. All dog & puppy players must complete a course on “Walking Shelter Dogs” and all Cat Cuddlers must complete a course on “Feline Socialization,” within three months of beginning volunteer service. Training schedule is available on our Volunteer page.http://www.animalfoundation.com/volunteer.html
Q. What times do volunteers help out?
A. Unscheduled Cat Cuddlers and Dog and Puppy Players can volunteer between 11 am and 7 pm daily. Early morning Dog and Puppy Players can start as early as 8:30 am, 7 days a week– but must call to schedule. First Impression Volunteers work daily from 10 am to 7 pm, but must be scheduled. Special Event volunteers work varied shifts as needed.
